Last post gave descent of President George H. W. Bush and President George W. Bush from Samuel Hinckley of Massachusetts (1652-1698). Following is reported line (I don't have documentation) from Samuel Hinckley to John Hinckley, who shot President Reagan. Can anyone fill in more details? Gee, it's a small world, no???

1. Samuel Hinckley and Sarah Pope;
2. Samuel (II) Hinckley and Martha Lathrop;
3. Samuel (III) Hinckley and Zerviah Breed;
4. Abel (I) Hinckley and Sarah Hubbard;
5. Abel (II) Hinckley and Elizabeth Wheeler
6. Alfred Hinckley and Elizabeth Stanley;
7. Francis Edward Hinckley and Amelia Smith
8. Percy Porter Hinckley and Katherine Arvilla Warnock;
9. John Warnock Hinckley and Jo Anne Moore;
10. John Warnock Hinckley (born 1955), attempted assassin.

Had John Hinckley aimed an inch or two more truly than he did, his putative cousin, George H.W. Bush, woulda become president in 1981. How's that for "Family Values"?? Or was it just a bizarre coincidence?!?
