AMBROSE..another name that was popular with the Clark Co. branch of the family.
Still curious about the THOMAS BUSH that was on first census of Hart County and the LYDIA BUSH that appears on the next couple of census after Thomas does not.
I found a marriage record for a THOMAS BUSH to "LIDDY" BREEDWELL in 1802, the marriage was preformed in Orange Co. Virginia (previous home of Clark Co. Bushes) and the record is in the back of Deed Book # 17, page 495.Could this be the Thomas & Lydia Bush that appear in Hart Co.?
"CAPT.BILLY" BUSH had a son Thomas, and Thomas was alive when his father died in 1815 and in 1817 when his father's slaves were distributed to the children. (info from "Abstract of Early Kentucky Wills & Inventories, Clark Co.,Book A, page 42) Amoung "Capt. Billy's" children were William Tandy, Willis, Thomas, Elkanah, John V. Bush. These boys were born 1770-1780's and that is probably about when THOMAS BUSH was born that was in Hart Co.One Bush website says that "Capt. Billy's" son THOMAS died in his 20's and wasn't married but they offer no proof or further information so it may be worth keeping in mind.It would not be unusual for another of "Capt. Billy's" sons to be in the area, his sons William Tandy & Willis lived in Barren County, the 3 sons WILLIAM TANDY, WILLIS, ELKANAH all had Land Warrants for HART CO. in 1819-1822.A John V. also lived in Barren Co., a John V. Bush was the jailer in Barren on 1850 census.
As for HENRY BUSH on first census of Hart Co., he is a big ?."Capt. Billy" had a number of brothers who had children about the same time he did, I think it is possible that they are not all accounted for or documented.JOHN H. BUSH of Hart co. named a son Henry, after one of his relatives?
From another book about Missouri settlers===
"BUSH-William Bush of Fayette Co., Ky. (Clark Co. group) had-BENJAMIN, AMBROSE, LEVI, and MATILDA.Benjamin married and settled in Illinois, Levi and Matilda Bush both married and lived and died in Kentucky. After 1 year in Illinois, Ambrose moved to Missouri, first living in Charrette in Warren County, then in 1818 he moved to Montgomery County. He died in 1873 at the advanced age of 88 years.Ambrose's children were Greenberry, Maria, Edward D., William, & Ella. (Greenberry married and named children William D., Eliza A., Nancy J., Amanda G., Caroline, Mary, Clay, Edward W., Virginia, & Susan.)This AMBROSE born about 1785, his father WILLIAM BUSH born about early 1760's or before, in Virginia.WHO IS THIS WILLIAM BUSH and who were his parents? He belonged to the Clark Co./Fayette Co. Kentucky Bushes, but which ones?
I think RANSOM AMOS BUSH is certainly part of this family, it is pretty clear that RANSOM was related to JOHN H. and HENRY(probably a nephew?) mentioned in that letter.JOHN H. also named a son WILLIAM H.A WILLIAM H. signed RANSOM'S marriage lic., maybe WILLIAM H. was another brother of RANSOM & JOHN H.Is there anymore information available on the THOMAS, HENRY, & JOHN BUSH that appear on the first census for HART CO.?Surely would be nice if they left Wills, even inventories that often name family members.Early land records for them= did they get their land in HART co. by deed, military grant or some other type of grant? Was the land they lived on originally part of Barren or Hardin Co. and records may be in other counties?
I think you are getting close to finding Ransom's parents, but you know I prefer to be optimistic about all of the mysterious Bush boys.
