Hi Karen,
Thanks for writing. As I always say, if there is a small chance of a connection, go for it.
Re:Your Carl Frederick Buscher.Doyou have any possible dates?I know you said that he was sailing in the 1830s, did it say about how old he was, or any clues to his home in Germany? There are alot of Carl Frederick Buschers on the LDS site from Germany.Does it say what boat he was sailing on?Where is Medira?
What is your Great Grandfathers given name, the one born in 1895 in PA?All of these things may give us a clue.
Since I had posted my original message, I have found my Fredericks father and some siblings. He was Theodore, and my Fred was born in Lake Co, not Benton Co.Now I looked at all the Carl Buschers in the LDS and there is one that is named Carl Frederick Theodore Buscher, in the right time frame, in Germany.Theodore would have been born about 1836 according to the 1870 Census I have. What I am getting at is perhaps your Carl Frederick is my Theodores father and your Carl, even though he was sailing alot, maybe he did not actually move to the US until after that. What we need to do is reconstruct your tree from Great Grandfather in PA back to make a connection.I do not put alot of stock in the way a name was spelled, they changed it all the time.I have documents with both Buscher and Busher on it for the same people and Bischer is just as close in my humble opinion.
Where was your grandfather born? That will help also.
If you did not do so, please look at my own reply to this message.I updated the information.I did not add the names of my Freds sons and I think the names are rather important to the line.I have:
Anthony Joseph
Joseph Jacob
Leo Henry
Carl Herbert
Francis John
Frederick (died as a baby)
George Aloysius
Write back and let me know if you have any answers to these questions, maybe we can put your tree together, one way or another.
Happy Hunting,
Karen De Groote-Johnson
