The Mother-in-law of Robert W. Busby, Agnes McNabb, has died at 86...Both Mother and Daughter (Agnes McNabb) are now burried in Jacksonville, AL...Major Charles Jack McNABB is burried near them in the same cemetary...JACKSONVILLE — Agnes McVey McNabb came to this country from a small coal-mining town in Scotland with a dream for a better life. She was 18 when she married an Army man and traveled the world while having children. "The years spent raising my children were the best in my life," she used to say. Raising children wasn't enough for this bright Scottish lassie, nay, she attended JSU and graduated with BS and MS degrees. Agnes spent the next 20 years teaching high school English and elementary reading, the joy of her career. Following her retirement, she worked with the Jacksonville Meals on Wheels and served as a "bell ringer" at Christmas for the Salvation Army. She enjoyed helping those less fortunate. For many years, she was a member of the Inter Se Study. Agnes is survived by daughters, Ann McNabb Busby and her husband, Robert, of Falls Church, Va., Beth McNabb Halstead and her husband, Stephen, of St. Petersburg, Fla., Kem McNabb Kendig and children Andy and Katie, of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Charles Jack McNabb, of Jacksonville and his daughter, Tiya, of Birmingham. A memorial service will be at Saturday, August 16, 2008, at 2 p.m. with visitation from 1 - 2 p.m. at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Jacksonville Christian Outreach Center or Hill Crest Baptist Church in Saks. Online condolences may be sent to the family at: www.klbrownfuneralhome.com
