Billie, I, too, am researching Busby's. However, my James M. Busby, is not kin (as far as I know) to your James A. Busby.

I received a call from a Mr. Bowling requesting info on your James A. Busby, and I told him I would try to help him through censuses.

All he told me was the name James A. Busby and his wife, Samantha M., and their daughter, Sallie Busby, who married James A. Bowling. He did have an 1880 census for James A. Busby. He gave me no dates.

I've not looked that hard, yet, but I found James A. Busby on the 1860, 1870, 1880 censuses. I've not had time to go back any farther. So, I am sure you can find some of the information you want in them. I always go to censuses and land records first if I can find them.

On the 1880 census, James Busby is listed as maimed/crippled/bedridden/or disabled in some way.
