Charles Osborne says he is in Hawkins Co., TN about 1810. He says this Burton family left for KY about 1830.
The Burton genealogy of Campbell County is a bit unclear. The Robert Burton born about 1752, son of William (of Albemarle, not Bedford) has been assigned to William m. 1749 Mary Walthall (d. 1755). This William has been assigned to two different sets of parents. In one case he has a second wife, Rebecca Cobbs and more children. One of William's sons, named Jesse (m. Anna Hudson), was a member of the Virginia legislature from Campbell county. A daughter Mary (b. 1755 and marries Allen Burton a cousin) has a son Absolom who could just barely fit as the man on the 1793 Wythe Co. tax suppose. This Burton line looks like one to further explore. Nothing is on the internet about Robert b. 1752 after the 1772 College of William and Mary Masonic dues payment as far as I can tell. Most of the rest of this Burton line is not on-line either.
This Burton line is a Henrico/Chesterfield/Goochland/Cumberland/Albermarle/Bedford/ Campbell line as is the TN Trent line.
