I have the following on a John Nicholas BURT, son of Philip BURT (ca 1727 - bef 1772) of Surry Co., VA. This John N. could possibly be the grandfather of the John N. you are referencing. His children are named in an estate settlement, but Philip G. BURT would have been old enough to have married and had a son ca 1795-1798 - and may have named him for his father. It is, of course, supposition, but the name and location is certainly worth following up. Thought it might give you something to go on. This is part of a larger BURT clan that several of us have been tracking for awhile and can be found at: www.rootsweb.com/~burtsou I have a few more sources and details on John Nicholas' family...write if you are interested.
