My late husband's g.g.grandparents were Christopher George Washington Bence and Martha Burt b. 1827/30 to Anderson and Sarah Burt. Believe Mary Jane is sister of Martha.
In researching the Burt family, I believe their mother was Sarah Finch b. 17?? to William and Elizabeth Christopher Finch. William b. c1753 Charles City, VA.; d. c1811 Clarke Co., GA. The Finch family can be researched back to 1600. Other families that married into the Finch family were Vaughn, Brothers,Dandridge, and Cocke.
My findings are through websites, so they may not be accurate.
