Power of Attorney, 1866, MS, Marion County, Christopher Burt and siblings

This is a Power of Attorney dated 1866, regarding the family of Christopher Burt, Sr. and his children herein named with the spouse, if any, and county of which they were living. Hope this helps you all as much as it helped me.

Whence all men by these presents that we Sarah Anne Jenkins and William Jenkins, her husband of the county of Perry and State of Mississippi, Amy Cook and Benjamin Cook her husband of the County of Marion and said state, Martha Farmer and Peter Farmer, her husband of the county of Covington and said state, Caroline Windham and Robert Windham her husband of the County of Jones and said state, Mary Brakefield and (Burrel) S. Brakefield her husband of the county of Marion and said state, Elizabeth Cook and Henry Cook her husband of the last named county and state aforesaid, Salena Aultman and Cullin Aultman her husband of the county of Covington and said state. Lucina Aultman and Thomas Aultman her husband of the last named county and state aforesaid, Christopher Burt, Jr. and Catherine Burt of the County of Marion and said state legal heirs and (_______?______) of Christopher Burt Sr. of the county of Marion and said state, deceased in pursuance of (______?____) articles of agreement heretofore signed by us, do hereby authorize and empower, Elijah Burt of the last named county and state aforesaid and one of said heirs and (______?____). We do adjust and satisfy all lawful claims, debts, and demands against the estate of the said deceased ant; in such manner as he the said Elijah may deem, he’ll best promote the interest of those interceded in said estate and will the least (_______) to them, and for that purpose we do authorize and empower him the said Elijah Burt . We sell such (_________) the personal estate of said deceased ant; as he might consider amiable (____) effect the purpose for which this power of attorney is given. Hereby (______) and (_________) for ourselves, our heirs forever, all the (____) of our said attorney done by virtue and pursuance of those presents – Witness our hands and seals according to the perspective duties on which they are here unto subscribed and affixed.
