I have a bit of a mystery here and wondered if it rang any bells with anyone.
When my Grandfather William Albert Saunders came out to New Zealand after WW1 he married a lady and they had a son – the lady later died and William went on to marry my Grandmother.
On the marriage certificate of William it lists his first wife as Lillian Camish Abercromby (or Abercrombie) born circa 1900 and her parents as JAMES ALEXANDER ABERCROMBY and Mother ELIZABETH ROBERTSON however on her death certificate it lists her parents as JAMES ALEXANDER and ELIZABETH BURT
It says that Lillian and her parents hailed from Aberdeen in Scotland on both certificates – at least this is consistent!
Is there a James and Elizabeth from Aberdeen in anyone’s BURT lines?
I’m trying to figure out Lillian’s correct maiden name..
