My 2 x great grandfather was John William Cole Burt who was boen on 11th October 1810 in Swanage. he married Clara Shott in 1840 and they had 10 children.
John was a stonemason. He, Clara and their children migrated to Australia in 1857, settling in Collingwood near Melbourne.
John's parents were Timothy Burt and Elizabeth Cole. His grandparents were Robert Burt and Mary Cole. The family were Methodists.
I have a tentative tree which goes back from Robert and Mary but which needs verification.
Would love to hear from anyone who is connected or has any information about this family.
