I read your message concerning Ishmael Burrow and believe I may be able to help some. Ishmael Burrow was born in Greene County, Arkansas about 1840. He was probably the son of Sterling Burrow and wife Sally, maiden name unknown, who came from Carroll County, Tennessee, by way of North Carolina and Virginia. Ishmael was living with his mother in the 1850 Greene County, Arkansas census with brothers, Sterling, age 18; Henry, age 17; Tindrel, age 13; John, age 8 and sister Sarah, age 3. Ishmael was listed as born in Ark., age 10.
By 1870 Ishmael was in Craighead County, with wife Synthia J. and daughters, Lucinda J. age 3 and Martha E., age 10/12.
The 1880 Craighead census showed Ishmael was married to a Sarah A., who was probably a second wife. A daughter, Martha E. died in March, 1880. The census indicates Ishmael had three more children; Sterling B., born abt, 1870; Cynthia L., b. abt. 1876; Lucy A., b. abt, 1879. There may have been others as the 1880 Arkansas Mortality Census listed several young Burrow's that had died that year.
