I have some info which may be of help. I have done rather extensive work on Burrises of Surry County, N.C. I've also had trouble sorting out the Quaker Burrises from the others. One group(my ancestors' family), John,Thomas, Martin, William, Jacob, and Sister Susannah Davis(m.Leonard Davis),seem to have moved to that area around 1780-1790 from Albemarle Co., Va. They were the children of Thomas Burris and Sarah Martin of Albemarle. Thomas was the son of Jacob Burras(various spellings) and Sarah the daughter of Joseph Martin, both of Caroline Co. Va. Most, if not all of these Burrises moved on to Overton Co., Tn. around 1810-1820.
