The Caddo Herald December 16, 1927 Golden Wedding Celebration Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Burris celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home in Coleman Dec. 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Burris are pioneers in this section of the country, having come to Caddo in 1872. Mrs. Burris was Miss Bettie, daughter of W. J. Powers. They were married in Caddo in 1877, the first couple to wed in the town; in those days Caddo was just a small village on a wide prairie. Most of their married life has been spent in and around Caddo. Their children grew to manhood and womanhood here. To this union there were born four sons and two daughters. All were home for the celebration. These worthy people have always stood for the best things in life, clean living and good citizenship. Both are active members of the Methodist church and their kindly deeds and helpful influence have helped to cheer and brighten many lives. They were the recipients of a number of beautiful gifts and many expressions of good will. The day also was Mr. Burris’ 78th birthday. A sumptuous dinner was served at the noon hour, consisting of chicken, turkey and many delicacies. A beautiful cake, adorned with 78 pink candles, graced the center of the table. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Braudrick and family of Hugo; Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Mills and family of Caddo; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Burris of Ada; Mr. J. O. Burris and daughter, Ernestine, of Ada; Clarence Burris of Salt Lake City; Will Burris and family of Coleman; Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Smallwood and son of Dallas; and the honor guests, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Burris. Notify Administrator about this message?
