Pete,
In search of my BURRIS Family, I have borrowed data, names, dates and notes from various researchers in hopes of finding my line. If you can be of any help, and add or take away, or give resources for such, I welcome your comments. Thanks Mary

Notes;
Burrowes Hill (sometimes called Burrowes Mount), near Jamestown but south of the River, was the name of the plantation of John Burrowes, who arrived in Virginia on the "Survivor" in 1608. He married Bridget Langley, widow of Rev Richard Buck, and later moved north of the James to care for a retarded "sister-in-law," Mara Buck. He was murdered in 1628 by a 14-year-old indentured servant.
I have often thought that the John Burrows who arrived in Virginia in 1626 and is seen in land records starting in 1638 could be a son of the earlier John who had been sent to England to school, thus missing the muster of 1624/25.If so, it gives us Burrus descendants a line back to almost the time of the first "permanent" settlement in Virginia.
Interesting that your line starts at Burrows Hill in 1685. That was the name of the plantation of John Burrowes, who came to Virginia on the Survivor in 1608 and was murdered in 1628. He moved north across the James after marriage to Bridget (Langley) Buck to better care for his retarded sister-in-law, Mara Buck, after being appointed her guardian. Interesting, too, is that Brockman found that John Burrows, who came to America (for the first time?) in 1626 but apparently had no further records until 1638, was from Burrows Mount, England. I have long wondered if this John was not the son of the earlier John who had been sent to England to attend school, returning in 1626 and, therefore, not being listed on the muster of 1624/25.
