Her daughter then married William Brummitt who was not so attentive to his worldly concerns and spent the half of what the first husband had left without adding to the stock, but left issue of two sons. When the said William Brummitt was on his deathbed, she asked him how he wished to have his worldly affairs settled...he replied that he wished Letitia to be made whole if there was property enough, signifying that what was left should be applied to the use of the first husbands child.

Although not definitely traced, there are indications that the Burris family was from Surry County, N.C.Some of the family went to Surry (county N.C.) from Albemarle County, VA. before 1771, and by 1790, a family from Henry County VA. was in Surry (county, N.C.).
John and Edward were enumerated in Pendelton in 1790 and others were heads of families in 1800 in both the Oconee and Anderson Counties area.
Mrs Kitty Burris of Pendelton stated in a court, 21 July 1790, that her daughter, Jean/Jane Burris married John Evans who died leaving a daughter, Letitia.
Jean/Jane then married William Brummitt, of Franklin County, VA family, who died leaving two sons (whether by Jean/Jane is not clear) and Jean/Jane married Mr John Glenn.John was a neighbor of Anthony Burris in 1800.
Thomas and Joshua Burriss were living in the Anderson County area in 1800; Joshua sold, 26 Dec. 1803 to John Burriss, land on Big Generostee Creek, with Thomas and James Burriss as witnesses.
