Hi!I just happened upon your query about Tamar and Willis Mastin Burris family.Tamar was named for Tamra in the bible (Joseph's sister - the Joseph of Aramathea who gave the tomb for Jesus to be buried in after the crucifixion). Tamar had a son named Daniel.
Willis and Martha had twelve children: Infant (1880), Clarence Allen (1881, died age 18 of typhoid fever; Alice Eliza (1883-1969), Infant son (2886), Delaney Ray (1887-1953), Opal Adeline (1889-1983), Otis Edgar (1892-1978), Oma (Audrey) (1894-1979). Billie (1897-1898), Wallace Miles (1899-1989), Mattie Ellen (1901-1997), and Tamar Hazel Burris, born 16 March 1907; married Floyd Sharples Hunter on June 5, 1931. They had one son whom they adopted Daniel Lynn Hunter (1946/ Tamar was living in a nursing home in Eldon, Missouri in 1998, the sole survivor of this family of twelve. She was noted for her collecting information on the Burris family and passing on the information both orally and in her writings, remembering and teaching others the value of remembering.
I wrote a book on the Burris Family which is 640 pages long, which has a wealth of information on the Willis Mastin Burris family and Tamar.
You can get a copy of the book from the Library of Congress in Washington DC or from the Salt Lake City Family History Library (ask them if they have microfilmed the book yet - should have been since they have had it since 1998) which film could be sent to your local Family History Library (run by the Mormons) at a minimal cost of $4.00. Be nice to hear how you are related to the family and Tamar. I am currently working on It All Started Here: The Scott Family which has some of those Burris families, though not the one you want. The one you want is in It All
Started Here: The Burris Family, by Dr. Norma Jean Coon, 1998.
