I'm trying to find out when my family name changed from Burress to Breece, I have found in my gggrandfathers (Francis Breece??/Burress??) family bible the following:

Births:
Hattie E. Burress 3/3/1891
Harris Burress 3/16/1893 (I think it should be Horace)
Paul Burress 6/24/1895
Burlin Burress 6/2/1909
Floyd Burress 8/5/1904
Earnist Milford Burress 6/10/1907 (my grandfather and always written as Ernest Milford Breece)

Francis M. Burress 8/28/1872
Lula E. Burress 1/8/1869

marriages:
F.M Burress m. Lula Foster 5/19/1890
Hattie Burress m. Lum Raines 7/6/1906
Horace D. Bureece m. Delia T. Morgan
Burlin H. Breece m. Lillie May O'Diar 1/19/1923

I believe all these were from The Balsam area of Jackson County, NC. Francis worked at saw mills in and around the Fontana area. If anyone has any information that will help I would be very greatful.
