Thomas Burress b ca 1780-1790, on Jefferson Co, TN census, enumerated next door to William Rice b ca 1800-1810. Does anyone have any information on these two men? My Daniel Rice was married to Judith/Julia Burress, no dates on this couple. Son Joseph b 1800 in TN, probably in what today is Cocke Co, TN. Cocke was formed from Jefferson and Jefferson from Greene Co, TN. Could Thomas Burress be a brother to Judith? Is his neighbor William Rice kin to our Daniel Rice? William would fit the age generation of Daniel's son Joseph. I found a William Rice on the 1850 census with a Presley Rice 36 yrs older then William, might be William's father. On 1800 census Wake Co, NC looks like same Presley. Cocke Co, TN is a burned county, so no land records. Daniel Rice had NC land grant 1790, and he and Judith joined the Big Pigeon Baptist Church in 1789. This would have been Greene Co, but today the church is located in what is Cocke Co, TN. I'm leaving shortly for Salt Lake City and would love to have some new clues on the Rice and Burress connections. Will share any new finds, too. Happy Hunting (^_^) Notify Administrator about this message?
