I am trying to locate some living cousins (possibly in California). I did not get interested in genealogy until both my father and mother were dead. I had no full brothers or sisters. I met a few uncles and cousins in about 1936, but like the usual dumb teenager, I took no notes.
My grandfather John Burr, son of Lyman E. Burr, was born in New York state in June or August of 1839. He was married 25 December 1862 in Princeton, Colusa County California to Lydia M. Williams, probably born 9 April 1843 in New York state.
Their children were:
Adelbert, 1864 in Colusa County, m. 1890 Mary, b. 1868 in England
Harry, 1870 in Colusa County
May, 1873
Frank, 1877 d. 1964 in Los Angeles or Long Beach California, m. Mary E. b . 1880
Kate, 1879 probably in Butte County California, m. Thomas Francis KERR 1899
John R. 28 Aug 1880 in Butte County, d. 23 July 1864 in San Jose
Lydia died 7 June 1881 in Butte county. John took her body to San Jose, where several of their children were living and had her buried in Oak Hill cemetery. He died in 1890 and was buried under the same grave marker. (The official records are wrong. They show she died in 1891).
John R. Burr was my father. He married 3 times. I had two half brothers, John Maxwell b. 1904 and Melville George b. 1906. My mother was his second wife. They were divorced when I was a baby and I lived with my mother except in 1936 I lived with my father and his third wife in San Jose.
Are there any offspring of my aunts or uncles who could contact me and fill me in on the more recent family history? I have a lot of information on the earlier generations
