In the 19th Century it was generally supposed that President Martin Van Buren was the illigitamate son of Aaron Burr. Gore Vidal, in his novel "Burr", noted two or three more including the noted painter John Vanderlyn (spelling may be wrong). Frankly, I had never read anywhere that he acknowledged his illegitimate children before his death.
