According to Charles Burr Todd, one of the foremost authorities on the BURR families in America, there were four separate families, which could not be linked positively to a common ancestor.

Jehu BURR founded the family which settled in Fairfield CT. Aaron BURR was one of his descendants.

Benjamin BURR founded the Hartford CT branch, which you were asking about. It is also my branch. (see my postings 5/10/98 on this forum)

Jonathon BURR founded the Dorchester CT branch.

Henry BURR came to America with William PENN and settled his family in New Jersey.
