One of the pioneers who settled Broadalbin, NY in 1799 was a Reuben Burr, from Litchfield, CT. He is very prominent in the town history and is described in most of the town history documents as one of the earliest settlers. He is buried in the Broadalbin Mayfield Rural Cemetery (AKA Village Cemetery) with several generations of descendants, as defined on the gravestones in the cemetery transcript made by Dave Bixby. Outline descendant tree as follows: 1 Rueben Burr - 1859 ........ 2 Allen Burr 1801 - 1879 ................... 3 James A. Burr 1832 - 1900 ....................... +Betsy M. 1836 - 1921 ............................. 4 Nelson F. Burr 1863 - 1935 ................................. +Lillie J. Chase ................... 3 Samuel Burr 1839 - 1903 ....................... +Louisa 1851 - 1922 ............................. 4 William A. Burr 1872 - 1943 ................................. +Mary E. Bartlett ........................................ 5 Arthur Allen Burr 1901 - 1985 ................... 3 Emeline Burr 1848 - 1899 ....................... +Stewart Lansing ........ 2 Edmund Burr 1805 - 1899 ............ +Maria 1804 - 1885 My 2nd great grandmother Nellie Burr (1860-1906) is in the same cemetery with her two husbands and a sister Lottie Burr (1873-1953) who is also with her husband. I am not sure of their connection to Reuben's family, but I believe there is a connection present. Does anyone know how Nellie fits with this family? I have also found a Reuben Burr in Litchfield, CT, who may be the same man on Family Archive CD #449, Local and Family Histories: New England, 1600's-1900's He is in entry 138 of the following tree: Record of the descendants of James Ensign and his wife Sarah Elson, the generations, as follows: "138. Mary Ensign6 (Samuel5, Moses4, Thomas3, David2, James1) B. 8 Sept. 1775, Litchfield, Litchfield, Conn.; dau. of Samuel and Mary Slade Ensign; d. 28 Dec. 1846, Winstead, Litchfield, Conn.; Md. 1798, Salmon Burr, b. 26 May 1775, Torrington, Litchfield, Conn.; s. of Reuben and Mehitable Burr; d. 19 Dec. 1851, Winstead, Litchfield, Conn." It then lists several generations of descendants of Salmon Burr's 10 children that I don't have the patience to transcribe. Can anyone out there confirm my suspicion that these two Reuben Burr's are one and the same? If so, the tree I'm building just got four generations deeper.
