On Major Robert Ashley see Lomask's biography: Aaron Burr, The Conspiracy and Years of Exile, pages 220, 222-3. Ashley is, in most biographies, a shadowy individual of which little is known. No mention is made of Mobile, but Lomask has a terrific bibliography and notes one source, on page 432 (222) "Arrest of Aaron Burr" from an Alabama resource, that might be of help. Best regards, J.M.
