Do you know of any relationship between the Burnham/Burnum family and the Carney's and Mayfield's of Union County SC? The man who I believe was my gg grandfather, Moses Mayfield b. c1790-96, was probably the same Moses Mayfield who married Elizabeth Carney in 1826 East Feliciana Parish LA. Moses was born in Union Co. SC, and the Carneys lived there before moving to TN and LA. Moses named a daughter Nancy Burnum Mayfield. She was born c1826/27, married James M Grant in Macon County NC 1845. We can find no relationship with any Burnums, but feel there has to be a reason for her to be named that. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
