To all
My gg grandmother was Mary Byrnside, daughter of John Byrnside, who was one of the founders (1802) of the town of Monroe in Monroe Co WV.
Mary married George Alford and emigrated to the area of present day Lincoln and Putnam Cos WV. George came from County Monaghan, Ireland with his Father John Alford, Sr. John Byrnside may have come from Ireland also - most immigrants in that time were Scotch-Irish.
Maybe this is a connection - The spelling variation could be a key.
Let me know if you find anything
