Hi Patricia, I noticed in 1900, Kansas was living with her brother-in-law, William Burnside. He is only indexed as such on Ancestry. But, if you look really, really, really close, it shows his middle initial (on the line) as an E. Actually, her middle initial J. is shown too, but not on index. He is 61 years old. I'm wondering if he is a name switcher & that he is Erastus below. His brother George, of course, would be the husband of Kansas. Home in 1850: Canaan, Madison Co., Ohio George Burnside 51 VA Farmer Margaret A. Burnside 39 VA Marcellas Burnside 19 VA Farmer (Male) Meradeth Burnside 17 VA Farmer (Male) Erastus Burnside 12 OH Silvester Burnside 9 OH Virinda Burnside 6 OH George Burnside 8/12 OH William Burnside 89 VA The above census is dated September 17th. However, technically, the enumerator was supposed to gather the data as the household would have appeared on June 1st. In 1900, it shows that George was born in September of 1849. The above info is very close to support that. Home in 1860: Township 15 N 3 W, Hamlet P.O., Mercer Co., Illinois George Burnsides 61 VA Farmer Margaret Burnsides 48 VA Erastus Burnsides 23 OH Sylvester Burnsides 21 OH Virinda Burnsides 16 OH George Burnsides 11 OH Home in 1870: Perryton, Hamlet P.O., Mercer Co., Illinois George Burnsides 67 VA Farmer Margarett Burnsides 58 VA Keeping House Elizabeth V. Burnsides 23(?) OH (Name switcher!!!) George Burnsides 20 OH Farmer Just a thought. liz No relation Notify Administrator about this message?
