from the 1886 book "History of the Susquehanna & Juniata Valleys" - page 464 (Mifflin County section)
"Hon. Thomas Burnside was born in the county of Tyrone, Ireland, July 28, 1782. In 1792 he came with his father to Montgomery County, Pa. In November, 1800, he began the study of law and was admitted to the bar February 13, 1804. He settled at once at Bellefonte......and died March 25, 1851."
