I have info on Ambrose E Burnside's close relatives, and she would not have been closer than 4 th cousin.
Ambrose E. Burnside s/o Edgehill Burnside (1790-1859), s/o James Burnside (1754-1803), s/o James Burnside (1723-1798/99).
Ambrose's great grandfather first located in records in Lunenburg Co Va when he was named executor of his father-in-law's Andrew Rodger's Will.
James Burnside moved his family to Laurens District SC ca 1768/69 where he remained until his death.
Ambrose's grandfather James Burnside (1754-1803) was a Loyalist during the Revolutionary War while rest of Burnside family favored the Revolutionary War.
Edgehill, Ambrose's father, moved from Laurens District SC to Ind in 1813 with some of his brothers and mother, but only Andrew remained in the North.
Andrew's daughter named Martha Edgehill Burnside (1812-1842) married William Dinwiddle.
The connection could come with James Burnside (1723-1798/99) 's generation.
