IN an old obituary of one of my ancestors from 1860, she claimed that she was "related" to Gen Burnside through a Laurens Co. SC connection, but the article is not any more specific. I've done lots of family tree work on the male surnames, and I've not come across a BURNSIDE connection yet. I am writing this to investigate whether the old obit. is true, because the surnames I've been researching are centered around Laurens Co. SC. I suspect, if the obit is true, that I'm related through one of the female lines to Gen. Burnside, perhaps a cousin. Basically, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW if there is a Burnside in that line, that would have a female born between 1760-1775, named Susannah? (Not necessarily born in SC, but may have family there) probably b.in VA. OR perhaps there was a female BURNSIDE in this line, called Elizabeth, b.1725-1740 in VA or NC? If you have any clue whatsoever, I would REALLY appreciate an e-mail! Thank you!
