Betty:
In my initial query I stated that I do NOT have documented evidence that Elizabeth Burnsed was my great great grandmother, but all my research points in that direction. In fact, I may never be able to prove it, but at this time I believe Elizabeth Burnside married Gadi Strickland, and I am not sure about the date. I have a question for you. What date do you have for Delilah Sheffield's death? The date I have is before the dates most researchers have for the birth of the last two children, Cynthia and Nancy. Cynthia and Nancy play a large part in my speculation that Elizabeth Burnside married Gadi Strickland. Gadi divorced Elizabeth in 1840 in Tattnall County, Ga. I have a copy of the divorce decree. It was just prior to 1840 that Gadi's son, William, moved from Tattnall County to Bryan County. Gadi followed shortly after his marriage to his second wife, Mary Hughes Wilks in 1842. On the 1850 Bryan County Census, Elizabeth, was living in the household of Cynthia Burnside and Richard Harvey. She had children. Why was she not living with one of them? There are several other indicators, but the discussion is much too long and complicated for this space. Any information you have on Elizabeth would be appreciated.
