It seems that there are many James Burnside. I am looking for a NY connection to the Burnsides. I have a Cattaraugus Co., NY, 1865 cencus report (hand written) that says that James Burnside (28) and his wife Mary H. (25) had two children; M.E.(7)daughter;S.W. (5) son. Mother, Roda (67) also lived with them. It doesn't state Roda's last name. Ten years later Roda is living with George Burnside (39). His wife is Martha (27); children Eliza(16);Gilbert(11);Rebecca Woodruff ? (11);?E. Burnside (5);Stilman (2)(may g grandfather. James, SethW.,and Maryette Burnside are all buried in Haskell Cemetary in Portville, NY. The dates on the markers don't match the census report. Don't know if this helps. Would like to know what you have. Good Luck. Tammy L. (Burnside) Martelle
