Actually, General Ambrose Everett Burnside
descends from the S. Carolina Burnsides.
Alexander and Elizabeth (Gilliland) Burnside
were my great great great grandparents.
Alexanders parents were John Burnside and
Mary Walker of old Augusta, now Pocahontas
County, West Virginia. Johns parents were
Robert Burnside and Esther Mayes of old
Augusta county Virginia. John and Esther
imigrated from County Tyrone, N. Ireland ca.
1730 with sons John and James and daughter
Rachel. My line runs Robert>John>Alexander>
Robert Sr.>Robert Jr.>Reuben>Philip>Tracy.
