In an old GLIDEWELL family obit, it tells about how my Glidewell's are "related to Gen. A. Burside" but it doesn't say how they are related. It would have to be a female line that I haven't researched yet, because so far, all the male surnames in my Glidewell tree aren't remotely related to any Burnside. RECENTLY, I found out that one of the female Glidewell's maiden names was BROWN (Susannah or Hannah b.ca 1762). Perhaps General Burnside's mother, Ms.BROWN was a sister or neice to my SusHanna(?) Brown of south-central VA? My Sushanna brown married William Glidewell (sometimes misspelled Glidell, Gladwell, or Gloydwell) ca 1780 before moving to Laurens Co. SC, where they stayed until 1804, then moved on to the Ohio river Valley (now Hamilton Co. OH). I have collected many facts on my Glidewell line and I would love to know if this is what my old 1850's obit meant by "being related" to Gen. Burnside. Any clues? (ps: Wm Glidewell's rev.war pension papers do not mention any family clues). I'd love to solve this curiosity, if you can help let me know!
