looking for Aleck Burns, born maybe about 1795 or so, and I can't even begin to guess where...
He had a daughter named Lydia who was born probably around 1820, and in TN or GA, depending on what record you read.
Lydia married a Cherokee by the name of Jim Hood and died in OK about 1896. Aleck is listed as Lydia's father by Lydia's son, in the same place it's noted as mother's name unknown.
I'm not sure how Liddie met Jim or when she got to Indian Territory. I know one of their daughters was born in IT in 1851, so she was married and there by then.
I do not believe Aleck was any sort of A.I. and I'm pretty sure his wife was probably not. It is possible that Aleck and his wife could have been Mulatto or Black, but that's not a given - I'm not sure what race they were.
Any help would be appreciated.
