Various Thomas Burnhams of Ipswich - 1600's
Posted by: Linda Stufflebean (ID *****9730) Date: November 02, 2011 at 15:41:04
  of 1939

I am descended from Isaac Parsons who married Hannah Burnham on 4 July 1739. Isaac was born in 1714 in Gloucester, MA. If Hannah was 21 when she married, then she was born about 1718. I have never seen any proof of who her parents were, but it has been said that she was a daughter of Thomas Burnham and perhaps Susanna. I don't believe Susanna was her mother, as there are no recorded births of any children to a Susanna Burnham in the 1600's vital records of Mass. In fact, the only mention of Susanna is her death record, recorded at Ipswich, on 27 May 1728. It is noted that she is the wife (not widow) of Lt. Thomas Burnham, so I assume that means her husband survived her.

Has anyone done any research proving which adult Thomas goes with which set of parents, wives and death dates? With the exception of Thomas who married Lydia Pengry being the son of Thomas the immigrant and Mary Lawrence, how do these Thomases fit together and is Hannah Burnham, born about 1718 the unrecorded daughter of Thomas Burnham who married Hannah Cogswell in 1712?

I have extracted the following Ipswich vital records concerning Thomas Burnhams born in there in the 1600's:
