RICHARD BURNEY IN VIRGINIA IN 1650

I am a descendant of John Burney who married Elizabeth Cheek through their son Richard Burney. Up to now I have been unable to go back further in my research than John Burney.

However, I just stumbled upon a Richard Burney who received a land grant in 1650 in Northumberland County, Virginia (Book #1). Does anyone know anything about this Richard Burney. If there was any relationship between him and John Burney (who married Elizabeth Cheek) it would be unlikely that he would have been father to John because the number of years separating the two would be about 70-75 years. But it would be interesting to discover who were the children of Richard Burney (1650 Virginia); there might be a possibility one of them could have been the father of John Burney (who married Elizabeth Cheek).

Anyone out there interested?

Carolyn
