Stacy, I was recently in Raleigh, NC doing research at the state archives and state library. While there I discovered a book in the library titled "The Burney From North Carolina" by Pauline Burney Brightman published in 1992. It appears that there were only 150 copies printed as this one is numbered 132 of 150. Using the information in this book should make it easy for someone to trace the Burney family beyond our William who married Susannah Holland. William's father was Simon Burney b. prior to 1761, married Sarah Teal between 1791-1797 in Opelousas, St. Landry, LA. I know this is sketchy but there is enough in this book to use as a road map and prove the above with documentation. Well, a "roadmap" and a lot of time and patience as sources are not cited clearly! Unfortunately, I was in North Carolina working on another line and attending a conference. There is plenty back there to find on the Burneys. And there is plenty to find on them here in Texas. The Hollands were out of Ohio and the Burney's were out of NC. They met up in LA before becoming part of Austin's colony into what was then a colonial province of Spain. Namely Texas. Please contact me at my personal e-mail and let's compare info. What is your line of descent? Thx Debbie seeyababe76@yahoo.com Notify Administrator about this message?
