I am interested in any information about David Burney who died in Brazoria County, Texas, in 1859. I am particulary interested in all of the surnames connected with him. The Burneys were (or may have been) kin to families named Gill, Manadue, Terry, Compton, Oatis, Hill, and Young. The 1860 census lists the following household, which may have been David's widow and children:
204/190 Mrs. I. BIRNEY 46 F Planter 10750/38980 La
Lizzie 20 F La
Davie 18 M La
Wm 17 M La
Irene 12 F La

Marriages:
Dr. Francis M. OATIS and Lucy W. BURNEY married 23 Feb. 1854 by D. W. FLY, Minister, Methodist Episcopal Church South.

William G. HILL and Elizabeth C. BURNEY, married 27 September 1861, by W. T. Dickenson Dalzell.

205/191 F. M. OATIS 30 M Physician /2100 Ms
Lucy 22 F La
Robt G. 3 M Tx
D. B. 1/12 M Tx

A nearby (1860) household is that of Mrs. Winifred F. Gill:
214/200 W. F. GILL 59 F Planter 76320/4360 La
E. B. MANADUE 19 F La
J. H. BIRNEY 27 M Planter La

There was a Jacob Y. Burney here in 1836 but by 1840 he had moved to Travis County, Texas.
