JACOB AND EARHARD BURNER ARE PROBABLY THE TWO EARLIEST BURNERS IN THE COLONIES. MY LINE IS FROM JACOB AND THE FOLLOWING IS NOT DUE TO MY RESEARCH, BUT THE BOOK WHERE IT CAME FROM IS MENTIONED. READ WITH INTEREST AND ENJOY.
Richard Warren Davis "Emigrants, Refugees and prisoners, Vol III". If anyone is researching their Lancaster to Shenandoah roots, I would recommend this book. Some of the bios are pretty extensive.
Anyway, the first couple of pages are devoted to a "Reconstructed 1750 Mennonite Census for the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia" which was produced from the research of Richard W. Davis and Daniel Bly.
They listed 41 households in the Strassburg & Massanutten Areas Of Shenandoah.
Some of the names listed are: (I'm only listing one spelling, all various spellings apply).
* Jacob Borner/ Burner of course
** Jacobs children
*** Jacobs wife and families surname
Each household lists the people in that household and their age.
In household 37
Jacob Borner, age 28
Madlena (Baumgardner) Borner, age 23
Michael Burner, age 2
Jacob Burner, new born
In household 38
John Baumgartner, age 55
Mary Baumgardner, age 19
John, age 16
Elizabeth, age 14
Christian, age 12
Wow its terrific news to get factual information such as this.
MY THOUGHTS NOW.
But my listing of Jacobs children, Michael and Jacob, I have no Idea of Anns birth year. I did have her listed at 1749 per my computer research. From this census though Michael was born in 1748, and Jacob was a newborn in 1750. With Ann having an1749 birth that means on child per year. That would have been possible, but I wonder.....Jacob and Magdalena will have had 4 children in four years.
'A Mennonite census in 1750 suggesting that Jacob Borner was born in 1722, with an age of 28 in 1750. I know not when the Bumgardners arrived to the colonies, but these census gives Magdalena's birth as 1731, with an age of 19 in 1750.' Just thoughts for my self in writing, so I am reminded each time I read these notes.
