Frances Jane Burnell died at her home in Chesterton, Ind. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. She was 87. She was born in Lafayette, Ind., Oct. 16, 1917 the daughter of George W. and Elizabeth Burnell, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by nephew Denis (Debbie) Hurley and children, Tim, Katie and Maggie all of Jackson Twp.; Phillip (Gail) Hurley of Norman, Okla. and children Kyle, Kevin and Kathleen; nieces, Nancy (late David) Radley of Albuquerque, N.M. and children Jason (Kristy) Radley, Tyler and Hannah of Denver, Colo. and Byron (Jennifer) Radley, Zane and Alec of Springfield, Ore.; Jane Ann (Jim) Thornberry of Indianapolis and Scott (Trisha) Gwinn and Amy Gwinn; and John (Kathy) Burnell and Jennifer of Indianapolis; great-nephew Marcus (Marcella) Burnell and family of Indianapolis and many treasured friends. She was also preceded in death by siblings G. Walter Burnell, Mary Hurley and John Burnell and nephew Thomas Burnell. Jane attended Purdue University and was a World War II veteran serving in the WAVES from 1943 until the end of the war. After an Honorable Discharge in 1945, she lived in Philadelphia where she worked for General Electric as an administrative assistant in the Aeronautical Division until her retirement. A funeral Mass of the Resurrection was held Saturday, Feb. 26, Fr. Ambrose Ziegler officiating, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Lafayette. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lafayette.
