Seeking ancestors of John M. Brennell, said to be from Ohio. His first wife, who died before the Civil War, was a lady named Briggs, no children. He served in the Union Navy in the Civil War, on the Pinkney, settling in Carlinville, Illinois 1865-1870. Wed Louisa Furry and had three children: Eliza, John Roscoe, Augusta. Moved to East Chicago, Indiana, where he remained till his death. John Roscoe Brennell was a linotype operator for Calumet Press, worked for other newspapers in Carlinville. Eliza was the first schoolteacher in East Chicago. Still trying to trace their beginnings in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
