I know it's a long shot that you will see this message as it has been some years since your posting.
I am researching John Hermann Burmeister/Burmaster, also of Washington. He went by Herman and was born in Germany (not sure of where) in 1868 and the family changed their name to Burmaster when they arrived in America later that year.
They lived in Michigan for some time, and Herman then traveled to Tacoma and then came north to the then brand new settlement of "Bug", which later became Sedro-Woolley.
I would love to know if he is a cousin or other relative of your John E. Burmeister/Burmaster.
Any info on this family would be appreciated.

Christine
