I have seen Grace, wife of Christopher Burlingame, son of Roger and Sarah Baker, Burlingame, identified as Grace Edmonds. I believe that this is incorrect.
Grace Merithew, daughter of Jonathan and Mary [Oakman] Merithew, was identified as Grace Burlingame in the will of her father. (Rhode Island Probate Records, Book 4, pg. 48.) Grace was born in Dartmouth, Mass. on October 14, 1706. Her father later relocated the family to Providence, Rhode Island. Christopher sold land in Dartmouth to Grace's brother Jeremiah Merithew in a deed dated July 18, 1744. The deed was signed by Christopher and Grace Burlingame. (Bristol County Land Records,32:414.)
The only support that I have seen for Grace Edmonds as the wife of Christopher is that a brother of Christopher's married a sister of Grace Edmonds. I would like to know if anyone has any further support for identiying Christopher's wife as Grace Edmonds.
