Patience Burlingame 1700's Rhode Island

Looking for clarification of parentage. Patience was born 1767 in Gloucester, RI and died in 1843. She married Exekiel Emerson in 1787. Thought to be the daughter of Capt. David Burlingame (1736-1815),descendant of Simon, but have another source which says she is the daughter of Capt.David's brother, Thomas born 1734. Any ideas? Thanks.
