Lynn, it's a pleasure to see your message. I am a descendant of Jeremiah Burlingame and Ruth Palmer Grinnell. I learned of Ruth's two children in the Burlingame genealogy located in the Rhode Island Historical Society. I had been under the impression that both were sons, but your information is probably more accurate. I don't have information about them, but I can tell you some of the places Ruth and Jeremiah lived, and that may help track down the children.

Jeremiah and Ruth were married Mar. 1, 1778, in Little Compton, R.I. In the 1790 census they lived in Windsor, Mass. and in 1800, they were in Cheshire, Mass. Both towns are in Berkshire County, and are close to each other, so the town lines may have been redrawn rather than the Burlingames moving to a new location. Apparently around 1809, they moved across the NY border to Petersburg, Rensselaer Co., NY. Jeremiah died in 1811. Ruth married thirdly to Elisha Reynolds in 1813. She lived to be nearly 90. Did you know she was a descendant of two Mayflower passengers?

A good source for you to try might be the LDS International Geological Index, (IGI), located on microfiche in all family history centers. In the Massachusetts listing, while looking at Burlingames, I found that Mary Burlingame married Benjamin Palmer in 1826 in Hancock in Berkshire County. Could they have been grandchildren of Ruth and Jeremiah, or maybe niece and nephew. Fun to speculate. Anyway I wasn't looking for Palmers, so you might find a lot more. I suggest looking in Mass., R.I., and NY.

At the Rhode Island state archives, my cousin and I found a collection of depositions taken in support of Ruth's receiving a pension for Jeremiah's service in the Revolution. There were several references to her marriage to Walter Palmer, and praise for his service fighting the British. He died of smallpox on board his ship.

Stay in touch.
