Question for Bob Snyder:
Re the birthplace of Benjamin Burlingame, son of Jeremiah
and Ruth Grinnell Burlingame. You show his birthplace as
Twerton, RI. First, could Twerton be Tiverton. I
don't know of a Twerton, and haven't been able to find
it. Tiverton is the town next door to Little Compton, where
Jeremiah and Ruth (parents) were married, so it is
plausible that they lived there before moving to Berkshire
County, MA.
The interest to me is that Jeremiah and Ruth are also my
direct ancestors, and we haven't been able to find out
much about their lives. We knew they moved to Berkshire Co.
MA, but didn't know if they lived somewhere else in the
meantime, and we thought all their children were born
there. According to your information, they did live
somewhere else, and their older children were born some
where else.
Would you be willing to share with me the source of
the birth information? It could help fill in some missing
information.
