If that story is true it does not make Daniel a coward like you said.
One man against a group of indians is a dead man. hiding when you can't do anything, would make him a live smart man.
It's just common sense that one frend would be happy that the other got away.
most stories are just that, stories.
just like all the storys you quoted, no one can verify all of them. but they are very interesting.
to not have all the stories would be a shame. They make family research fun.
All the stories need to be told so that one day the truth can come out.
I didn't mean to upset anyone.
