Let's count our Joshua Burkheads/Birkheads, etc.
The first one I have is Old Joshua who was over 45 in Cadiz, Harrison County, OH in 1820. He got a land patent in August 1815. On census for 1820,1830, and by 1840, he was there but younger wife with young children. His first wife had died and he had married Elizabeth Cox on 19 Sept 1839. She was the widow of ?????. Joshua and Elizabeth sold his land in 1840 to Abraham Burkhead. On 1 July 1850, Elizabeth Burkhead married William Baker. Old Joshua must have died. On 1850 census Elizabeth was William Baker's wife, and with them living in Harrison County were two Cox children, hers by her first marriage. Does anyone have anything else about this Joshua? I call him Old Joshua, because he is the oldest one I have found. No known children, although he had some still at home in 1820. Researchers, if you have a Joshua in your Burkhead/Birkhead line please list him with some identifying information about him.
