The information that I have was compiled by someone else so I cannot vouch for its accruacy but this is what I have. There are discrepencies between my information and that given by jc and by Linda Smith but it may be possible to reconcile the differences.
Sarah Burket born about 1814 may be the daughter of Samuel Burket who was born 14 February 1791 in York County, PA and died 10 February 1868 in Fostoria, PA. He married Ellen. She was born about 1792. They lived in Tuckahoe Valley near Fostoria which is between Bellwood and Tipton in Blair County.
Samuel was the son of Peter Burgart/Burket and Maria Harnish. They were German Lutheran. THe surname has gone thru several changes - Burgart to Burkett to Burket. Peter Burgart purchased land in Sinking Valley in 1802. He moved his family to Sinking Valley from Manhime Township in York County. Peter's grandson Ephraim used the spelling Burkett. Today the spelling is Burket. A male descendent has continously owned the farm in Sinking Valley from 1802 to the present day.
A Samuel Burgart served in the War of 1812 with an Abraham Tipry (J Simpson Africa page 108) this may or may not be the same men; but there are other surnames on the list common to the Bellwood, Tipton, and Sinking Valley area of what was then Huntingdon County.
My sources are the Burket family history compiled by T. B. Patton in 1897. J Simpson Africa (1883), and a recent family tree compiled by Steven James. All seconday sources but that is all I have time for just now.
